Looking for a job? Mind your personal branding!

Each of us is a CEO of our own company: Me Ltd. In order to remain competitive on the employee market today, we have to think about a marketing strategy for the brand called You.

The process where individuals make efforts to differentiate themselves from others by communicating their unique value propositions is called personal branding. This could happen both online and offline. However, potential employers only have access to the online You, which is why we need to mind our e-personal branding.

A good starting point is to think of these questions:

  • What are my motivations?
  • What values do I have?
  • What is my talent?

Compile a short list which will help you articulate your identity. You can then proceed to construct your online presence around that identity, expressing it in all ways from profile pictures to posts you share. A good platform for expressing your professional You is LinkedIn (although the service is not available in certain countries), but other social media can be used for the same purpose. By developing the You brand, we increase our chances of getting the job of our dreams!
